Warzone is incredibly demanding on your internet. The servers have to track up to 120 players, vehicles, loot, and ballistics across a massive map. It sends very heavy data packets (up to 300 bytes), but only about 20 times a second - Warzone is the one major battle royale that never moved to a 60Hz server tick, because Activision has said the bandwidth would cost three times as much. Call of Duty multiplayer runs up to 60Hz; the battle royale does not. If your network stutters for a fraction of a second, you get the dreaded "Packet Burst" warning. Warzone servers run at roughly 20 Hz - Call of Duty multiplayer runs up to 60 Hz, the battle royale mode does not.
Run the 20Hz test above for at least 60 seconds. Here is what your results mean for Warzone:
Red vertical lines mean your connection dropped data. In Warzone, this causes "super bullets" and unregistered hitmarkers. You empty half a mag into an enemy, hear the armor crack, but the server never gets the data. You die instantly.
Jitter is ping fluctuation. If your ping jumps from 30ms to 80ms randomly, Warzone flashes the "Packet Burst" icon (three orange squares). Your game will freeze for a split second right as you aim down sights.
High ping forces the game to guess where players are going (Extrapolation). This triggers the orange clock icon on your screen. It causes the "Shoot first, die first" syndrome because the enemy sees you earlier than you see them.

Warzone tries to download high-quality textures from the internet *while* you are playing. This destroys your bandwidth and causes massive lag spikes.

Wi-Fi naturally drops packets due to interference. The Call of Duty engine handles data drops very poorly compared to other games, resulting in severe rubberbanding.
The Symptom: Your ping is normally 20ms, but in Warzone it searches up to 80ms or 100ms.
Call of Duty's matchmaking prioritizes putting you with players of similar skill over putting you in a local server. It will force you into a server states away to match your hidden MMR.
The Symptom: Ping lines spiking into the red when family is home.
Your game packets are waiting in line behind Netflix streams or background OS updates. Your router is bottlenecking the massive 300-byte packets Warzone sends.
The three overlapping orange squares indicate "Packet Burst." It means your game client suddenly received a huge chunk of delayed data from the server all at once. This is usually caused by high Jitter or Wi-Fi interference on your local network. Check the chart above for Jitter spikes.
The orange clock icon means "Extrapolation." Your ping is so high that the server is forced to guess where you and your enemies are moving. This leads to teleporting players and bullets curving around walls. You need to lower your baseline latency.
This is a desync issue caused by ping differences. If your ping is 70ms and the enemy has 20ms, the server registers their bullets 50 milliseconds faster than yours. On your screen, you shot first. On the server, you were already dead. Lowering your ping is the only fix.
Two reasons: First, Call of Duty uses aggressive Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) that will connect you to distant servers to find equally skilled players. Second, Warzone packets are very large, and at 20Hz each one carries more state than a high-tick game's - so a single dropped packet costs you more, not less.
