PUBG PC servers run at 60Hz. Tracking 100 players, complex bullet ballistics, and vehicle physics requires the server to send massive data chunks (around 250 bytes) 60 times a second. Because of this heavy load, PUBG is incredibly sensitive to network instability, especially during early-game hot drops. Red vertical lines mean your connection dropped data entirely. In PUBG, this causes the infamous "Network Lag Detected" screen freeze. It also causes loot to teleport back onto the floor after you pick it up, and makes your bullets register as blood splatters with zero actual damage dealt.
Jitter is how much your ping wildly fluctuates. If your ping bounces from 30ms to 110ms, you will experience severe rubberbanding during parachute drops. High jitter also ruins vehicle physics, causing cars to stutter, slide unpredictably, or randomly flip over.
High baseline ping is the root cause of "Desync." Because PUBG uses client-side hit registration with server validation, an enemy with high ping can shoot you on their screen before you even peek on your screen. You will constantly die while completely hidden behind rocks or walls.

Internet speed (bandwidth) does not equal internet stability. "Network Lag Detected" means 100% packet loss—your connection to the server completely dropped for several seconds. Even on gigabit fiber, a momentary router hiccup or Wi-Fi interference will trigger this error.
This is a classic hit registration failure caused by packet loss. Your local client registered the hit on your screen and rendered the blood effect. However, the data packet carrying that hit was dropped by your internet before reaching the server. The server never saw the bullet hit, so no damage was applied.
Because of PUBG's realistic bullet travel time and client-side hit registration, a ping under 40ms is highly recommended. Once your ping exceeds 80ms, you will begin experiencing noticeable desync, such as getting shot after you've already ducked behind cover.
Looting in PUBG requires a round-trip confirmation from the server. You press 'F', your client asks the server if the item is still there, and the server replies to put it in your inventory. High ping or packet loss extends the time this conversation takes, causing the item to sit on the floor for an extra second.
