Brawl Stars runs on a highly synchronized, server-authoritative netcode that processes matches at 30Hz. In a fast-paced 3v3 arena where dodging is everything, your phone must exchange ~100-byte UDP packets with Supercell's servers 30 times every second. If your cellular data or home router drops even a single packet, the server halts your brawler, resulting in the dreaded flashing red Wi-Fi icon. Standard internet speed tests completely fail to diagnose this because they only check raw TCP download speed. Mobile MOBAs require an uninterrupted stream of data, not just fast downloads. The standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band uses the exact same radio frequency as Bluetooth devices. Connecting wireless earbuds while playing on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi causes massive packet collision and latency spikes.

These specific percentages are where the Brawl Stars client attempts to establish the final UDP handshake with the live battle server. If your router's firewall blocks it, or your packet loss is too high, the handshake fails.

Supercell hosts regional servers using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Sometimes your mobile provider or ISP takes a terrible, highly congested routing path to get to these specific datacenters.
The red Wi-Fi icon is Supercell's universal warning for severe packet loss or a ping spike exceeding 200ms. It means your device has temporarily stopped sending or receiving data from the battle server. To the server, your brawler is just standing completely still.
Shot delay is caused by high ping. When you release the attack joystick, your phone sends a command to the server. The server registers the attack, then sends a packet back to your screen telling the animation to play. If your ping is 100ms+, that entire process takes a noticeable fraction of a second.
This is caused by packet loss. You tapped the Gadget button, and your local client initiated the visual ring effect on your screen, but the UDP data packet was dropped by your internet provider before it reached the 30Hz server. The server rejects the cast because it never received the command.
Fast internet (bandwidth) is completely different from stable internet (jitter/packet loss). Brawl Stars uses tiny amounts of data, so having gigabit download speeds doesn't matter. If your router drops packets due to a crowded Wi-Fi channel, you will lag and get the red Wi-Fi icon. Switch to a 5GHz Wi-Fi band.
